Lead Engineer (China)

Overview

Lead Engineer (China) is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on owning complex products and systems and raising the engineering bar across the team.

What you'll do

• Lead technical design and execution of major products, features, and engineering initiatives.
• Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure.
• Stay hands-on with coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging, and production problem-solving.
• Make architecture decisions and manage technical trade-offs across speed, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Set high standards for code quality, system design, testing, security, observability, and production reliability.
• Mentor engineers, review technical work, and provide actionable feedback.
• Own systems after release by monitoring production, investigating incidents, resolving root causes, and improving reliability.

What you'll need

• Significant experience building and shipping production systems.
• Deep expertise in one or more areas such as backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong system design and architecture skills for complex or high-scale systems.
• Proven experience leading major engineering projects or providing technical leadership to other engineers.
• Comfort reviewing code, debugging complex issues, and working with production systems.
• Strong coding ability and willingness to remain hands-on.
• Comfort working with ambiguity from problem definition through production.
