Lead Software Engineer

Overview

Lead Software Engineer role performing implementation, problem solving, maintenance and support for agile software development.

What you'll do

• Design, modify, develop, write and implement software programming applications for target systems using agile methods.
• Acquire client requirements and resolve workflow problems through automation optimization.
• Write source code for new applications, and/or generate and enhance code samples for existing applications.
• Use automated testing tools to perform testing and maintenance.

What you'll need

• Working knowledge of decision-making and critical thinking: apply an assigned technique, identify and organize relevant data, recognize and prioritize concerns, assist in assessing risks and alternatives.
• Working knowledge of effective communication: deliver feedback without offending, listen to feedback without defensiveness, make oral presentations and write reports, avoid technical jargon when inappropriate.
• Extensive experience in software development: conduct walkthroughs and monitor development quality, elaborate on multiple development toolkits for traditional and web-based software, participate in development of multiple or large software products, contrast advantages and drawbacks of development languages and tools, estimate and monitor development costs, consult on selection and use of developers' workbench tools.
• Working knowledge of the software development life cycle: work with a formal life cycle methodology, explain phases, activities, dependencies, deliverables and decision points, interpret product development plans and functional documentation.
• Working knowledge of software integration engineering: design data exchange interfaces to and from software products, describe tools and techniques for extraction, transformation and loading of electronic data, work with integrating software into customer or partner framework and infrastructure, participate in developing technology interfaces and bridges.
• Extensive experience in software product design/architecture: demonstrate experience with architecture and design of major or multiple products, describe major architecture alternatives, explain design considerations for commercial database systems, operating systems and web, estimate costs of a product design, facilitate design reviews and walkthroughs, analyze benefits and drawbacks of software designs.
• Working knowledge of software product technical knowledge: maintain and utilize install base configuration data, solicit customer feedback and monitor bugs and implementation issues, participate in defining and conducting technical acceptance tests, participate in creating technical requirements for development and deployment, explain basic environment and product configuration options.
• Working knowledge of software product testing: participate in test readiness reviews and functional, volume and load testing, describe key features of a testing discipline or methodology, test components for compliance with functional requirements and design specifications, document test activities and results, conduct functional and performance testing on assigned products.
