Lead Staff Engineer, SSD Firmware Test

Overview

Lead Staff Engineer responsible for SSD firmware test development and team management within the storage domain.

What you'll do

• Manage the test development team within the storage domain.
• Develop and test embedded firmware for storage systems.
• Use scripting languages and programming tools/environments for testing and development.
• Apply AI-assisted approaches for firmware development workflows such as unit test generation and code review.
• Use AI agents/agentic workflows for firmware debugging and root-cause analysis while keeping human-in-the-loop validation.
• Identify and scope opportunities for AI-driven automation in embedded firmware tasks.

What you'll need

• 8 to 12 years of experience in managing a test development team in the storage domain.
• In-depth knowledge and extensive experience with embedded firmware development.
• Proficiency in scripting languages, programming tools, and environments.
• Extensive programming experience in Python.
• Understanding of storage interfaces including PCIe/NVMe, SATA, or SAS (ideally).
• Experience with NAND flash and other non-volatile storage.
• Experience with team leadership and/or supervising junior engineers and technicians.
