Manager, Engineering

Overview

Manager, Engineering to lead a team delivering and operating scale-out distributed systems and applications on the Druva Product Platform. The role spans the full product development lifecycle, from roadmap planning through release, support, and maintenance in production.

What you'll do

• Lead delivery of features and enhancements for scale-out distributed systems and applications.
• Own end-to-end delivery of new features and service releases, often in parallel with other work.
• Coordinate with product management, UX, and architects on high-level design, estimates, plans, and timelines.
• Drive operational health of services across availability, latency, and cost objectives, including on-call and incident response.
• Partner with product teams as internal customers and manage change via API and migration contracts.
• Establish engineering practices such as CI/CD, TDD, effective code reviews, and automated testing.
• Coach and mentor direct reports, run 1-1s, set SMART goals, and manage performance and career development.

What you'll need

• 10-15 years of experience in development projects with product development as an individual contributor and team/tech lead.
• 2 years managing a team of 5+ engineers, including motivating, developing/coaching, and appraising.
• Experience leading development of complex, scale-out distributed systems (Service Oriented Architecture/Microservices preferred).
• Understanding of Go/Python and concepts such as multi-threading, concurrency, data-intensive applications, and NoSQL databases.
• Experience building and operating multi-tenant SaaS services, including REST/gRPC APIs and event-driven workflows.
• Experience owning production services for availability and latency objectives (SLI/SLO), on-call, incident response, and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS/Azure preferred) and containerized deployment (Docker, Kubernetes).
