Overview
Develop, enhance, and implement software solutions within Pratt & Whitney's enterprise Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions and integrations with other enterprise products. Support web-based solutions, MES troubleshooting, systems integration and compatibility issue resolution, and the application life cycle.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain UI components in React using hooks and functional components.
- Integrate UI components with backend APIs.
- Ensure responsive, cross-browser behavior.
- Design and develop RESTful APIs using Python/FastAPI.
- Implement business logic, data validation using Pydantic, and error handling.
- Work with relational databases including PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
- Write efficient queries and support schema design.
- Deploy and support workloads on Azure, including App Services, Functions, and Storage.
- Assist with CI/CD pipelines.
- Write unit and integration tests using Jest/RTL for frontend and Pytest for backend.
- Participate in code reviews and follow team coding standards.
- Work in Agile/Scrum teams with QA, product owners, and backend/frontend counterparts.
- Contribute to technical documentation.
- Debug and resolve performance issues and inconsistencies.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 6+ years of experience in relevant areas of software development.
- Hands-on expertise in React.js, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5/CSS3, and state management using Redux/Context API.
- Hands-on expertise in Python, FastAPI or similar (Flask/Django), REST API design, and Pydantic/data validation.
- SQL fundamentals and experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar.
- Git version control.
- Basic testing frameworks including Jest and Pytest.
- Debugging skills.
- Good communication.
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.

- TypeScript.
- Component libraries including MUI, Ant Design, or Tailwind.
- Async programming in Python.
- SQLAlchemy/ORM experience.
- Message queues with basic exposure.
- Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Docker/containerization basics.
- Azure AD/authentication concepts.
- Agile/Scrum exposure.
- Basic accessibility (WCAG) awareness.
- API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Basic Azure familiarity, including App Services, Storage, Azure Functions, and Resource Groups.

- Hybrid role: employees work regularly both onsite and offsite; the ratio of onsite time is determined in partnership with the leader.
