Overview
As a Software Engineer III, you will build and help operate systems powering consumer digital experiences using an Order Management platform within the Digital & Commerce Platforms engineering organization.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable features and services supporting digital commerce platforms, APIs, and event-driven architectures serving high-volume consumer experiences.
- Build features across the order lifecycle, including order capture, sourcing and allocation, fulfillment, invoicing, and returns.
- Develop and support integrations with e-commerce, ERP, WMS, POS, payment, tax, and carrier systems.
- Participate in production support and on-call rotations.
- Investigate incidents, maintain runbooks, and contribute to post-incident reviews that improve system resilience.
- Leverage AI-powered engineering tools for coding, testing, debugging, and documentation while validating outputs for quality, security, and reliability.
- Build and maintain automated testing solutions.
- Contribute to code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, feature flag strategies, and safe deployment practices.
- Instrument applications with monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities.
- Collaborate across global teams to improve platform performance and customer experience.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering and supporting production applications.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, TypeScript/Node.js, Go, Kotlin, or Swift.
- Experience developing APIs and cloud-based solutions.
- Hands-on experience using AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar technologies within the software development lifecycle.
- Working experience with Google Cloud or another major cloud (AWS/Azure).
- Willingness to go deeper on GCP.
- Strong foundation in software engineering fundamentals including testing, debugging, data structures, source control, and CI/CD practices.
- Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks.
- Willingness to support production systems through operational ownership and continuous improvement activities.
- Hands-on experience with best-in-class Order Management platforms, home-grown or off-the-shelf such as Manhattan Active Omni or IBM Sterling Commerce.
Nice to have
- Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies.
- Exposure to infrastructure as code, containerization, and cloud-native platforms.
- Familiarity with observability, site reliability engineering, or incident response practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
