MTS-2 Security Operations Engineer

Overview

Security Operations Engineer (MTS-2) in eBay’s CSIRT Ops team, responsible for monitoring, investigating, and responding to cybersecurity events.

What you'll do

• Monitor global security events and alerts across enterprise security platforms in a 24x7 environment.
• Identify, classify, and prioritize security events for investigation.
• Perform initial investigation, triage, and analysis of security events.
• Execute approved containment actions and support forensic preservation and investigation activities.
• Analyze alerts, identify indicators of compromise (IOCs), and help improve detection content and alert tuning.
• Collect, analyze, and disseminate open-source intelligence (OSINT) to support investigations.
• Participate in a rotating 24x7 shift schedule, including weekends and holidays.

What you'll need

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Security Operations, Security Incident Response, Threat Detection, Digital Forensics, or a related discipline.
• Experience investigating security events and responding to cybersecurity incidents in an enterprise environment.
• Experience working with SIEM and/or EDR and other enterprise security monitoring technologies.
• Security Operations Center (SOC) or CSIRT environment experience (security event monitoring, alert triage, incident classification, response workflows).
• Networking fundamentals with TCP/IP protocols such as HTTP, DNS, FTP, DHCP, ARP and tools like Wireshark or tcpdump.
• Scripting/automation experience with Python or a similar scripting language.
• At least one listed security certification (e.g., SANS GIAC, ISC2, CompTIA Security+, Cisco, EC-Council, or Offensive Security).
