Overview
Design, develop and validate CNC programs for metal-cutting machine tools. Support CNC program safety, quality, on-time delivery and process efficiency, as well as production troubleshooting.
What you'll do
- Support the NC programmer team.
- Gain technical knowledge as part of the work.
- Communicate with counterparts to roll out jobs.
- Control the handling of CNC programs on the server.
- Achieve individual metrics and support the team's target.
- Select appropriate tools and processes for the given situation.
- Complete timecards for duties performed.
- Interact with the engineering department to process jobs when required.
- Meet customer delivery dates and maintain the team's on-time delivery.
- Support cross-region programming by understanding regional differences.
- Embrace the CIP culture, refine routine tasks and facilitate more effective processes to improve deliverables.
- Create programs in Esprit CAM software by identifying and understanding drawing symbols, sections and detail views in component drawings.
- Use CAD/CAM and related computer technology to develop programs and tool-path models.
- Support cross-machine programming by understanding programming differences.
- Make or offer suggestions on drawing changes to improve manufacturability.
- Read and follow written instructions or procedures.
- Create, design, edit and maintain Microsoft Excel files.
- Perform individual responsibilities related to portfolios, committees and other areas apart from regular programming.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need
- HS Diploma / GED and / or 0-2 years relevant experience.
- Ability to work with PCs and troubleshoot basic requirements such as mapping drives, access and navigation of different folders.
- Basic knowledge of shop-floor practices.
- Ability to correct routes: PS0021, SD0800, SF0010, Times, etc. in PRMS.
- Basic programming knowledge in either lathe programs or drill programs.
- Ability to read technical drawings, including drawings of seals and parts.
- Understanding of the imperial system (inches).
- Understanding of the basics of programming, including CNC machines, codes and various languages used.
- Ability to identify GD&T symbols, define the process and understand how it affects programming.
- Ability to identify the milling process involved in a part and knowledge of matching the same.
