Job description

Overview

Officer, Securities & Derivatives Analyst (C10, hybrid) in Citi's Securities Services team, managing the end-to-end confirmation, affirmation and matching lifecycle for exchange-traded derivatives and listed securities.

What you'll do

  • Review, validate and issue trade confirmations for listed products (exchange-traded derivatives, listed equity options, index futures/options, cash equities) in line with industry standards and exchange regulations.
  • Monitor and manage real-time electronic trade affirmation, matching and allocation queues across industry platforms (e.g., DTCC CTM, Omgeo, Traiana, OASYS, FIX/SWIFT messaging, exchange clearing feeds).
  • Conduct trade matching and verification against counterparty records, ensuring accuracy of notional, strike, expiration, premium, quantity, price, fees and settlement dates.
  • Identify, investigate and reconcile trade discrepancies, allocation breaks and economic mismatches in real time, liaising with internal Trading Desks, Middle Office, Sales and external clients/counterparties.
  • Monitor outstanding and unconfirmed trade queues, driving resolution and escalation of same-day settlement or critical markets to minimize operational and financial exposure.
  • Investigate root causes of recurring confirmation exceptions or mismatches, draft remediation plans and coordinate with clearing operations, settlement teams and technology on preventative controls.
  • Assess risk in operational and business decisions, protecting the firm's reputation, clients and assets and driving compliance with applicable policies, laws and regulations.
  • Design, prepare and analyze daily confirmation metrics, KPIs, straight-through processing (STP) rates and reports for operations leadership.
  • Use technical capabilities (such as macros, VBA, SQL or reporting tools) to automate reconciliation workflows, reduce manual intervention and enhance STP matching.
  • Ensure confirmation workflows adhere to audit trails, SOPs and internal control architecture.
  • Apply domain expertise and analytical rigor to non-routine confirmation issues, structured listed trade events and complex multi-leg allocation breaks, and independently manage daily confirmation queues and escalations.

What you'll need

  • 5 to 6 years of relevant operational experience in Securities & Derivatives Operations (Listed Confirmations, Middle Office Trade Support, Trade Affirmation/Matching or Clearing Operations).
  • Solid understanding of exchange-traded products, including listed options, futures, single-stock and index derivatives, cash equities and associated market practices.
  • Familiarity with trade confirmation/matching platforms and protocols (e.g., DTCC/CTM, Omgeo, Traiana, OASYS, Markit, SWIFT MT300/MT305 series, FIX protocol, Exchange Portals).
  • Strong understanding of regulatory confirmation mandates, exchange rules and trade repository reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (including macros/VBA) and data analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to operate under strict market and clearing deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with institutional clients, clearing brokers and trading desks.
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to process automation or workflow optimization.
