PBPK Scientist

Overview

PBPK Scientist role supporting discovery and development through design and implementation of PBPK models for small molecules and biotherapeutics.

What you'll do

• Develop PBPK frameworks for preclinical species and humans using Simcyp, Gastroplus, Matlab or similar tools.
• Apply models to new chemical entities to understand tissue distribution, absorption/PK, and safety margins.
• Predict PK in special populations such as hepatic or renal impairment, pediatrics, pregnancy, and diseased populations.
• Build novel PBPK models to answer mechanistic questions and enable translation across species.
• Perform in silico ADME support for PBPK model parameterization.
• Maintain input/output records and workflow documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on data needs.
• Communicate modeling recommendations to influence drug discovery and development decisions.

What you'll need

• PhD with 5+ years, or MS with 6+ years, or BS with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong PBPK modeling concepts and prior experience.
• Understanding of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics across modalities including enzymes, transporters, and in vitro assays for DDI.
• Knowledge of biopharmaceutics for prediction of drug absorption.
• Proficiency with one or more: Simcyp, Gastroplus, PK-Sim, Matlab or other relevant software.
• Preferably AI/ML, data science, and programming (Python or R).
