Overview
As a Platform Engineer, Google Cloud Platform, you will build and operate Dyson’s cloud platforms and shared platform services on Google Cloud Platform, while enabling secure, scalable and easy-to-use cloud platforms for engineering teams.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure and shared platform services on GCP.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and platform automation tooling.
- Build and operate Kubernetes-based platforms and cloud-native services.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and platform integrations.
- Support cloud networking, identity management, observability, and operational tooling.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement governance, compliance, and security controls.
- Monitor platform health, availability, performance, and operational reliability.
- Troubleshoot production issues and participate in incident response and continuous improvement activities.
- Create reusable templates, standards, and self-service capabilities that improve developer experience.
- Partner with architects and engineering teams to enable adoption of cloud best practices.
- Support cloud cost optimization initiatives and contribute to platform efficiency improvements.
- Produce technical documentation, operational runbooks, and platform standards.
What you'll need
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience building and operating solutions on Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong knowledge of GCP services including Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and Cloud Monitoring.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native technologies.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
- Understanding of cloud security, networking, identity management, and governance principles.
- Experience with Linux administration and scripting using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, observability, and Site Reliability Engineering practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a passion for automation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across globally distributed teams.
Nice to have
- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Engineer or related certifications.
- Experience operating platforms in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and GCP).
- Exposure to FinOps and cloud cost optimization practices.
- Experience with cloud platform engineering, developer platforms, or Internal Developer Platforms (IDP).
- Familiarity with platform security, policy-as-code, and cloud governance frameworks.
