Staff Platform Engineer

Overview

Technical lead for First American’s enterprise multi-cloud (AWS + Azure) platform, driving architecture, guardrails, and modernization for a secure, compliant, self-service cloud environment.

What you'll do

• Own end-to-end AWS platform architecture and roadmap.
• Align Azure landing-zone design and governance with AWS patterns.
• Define and enforce platform security principles and IaC-only standards.
• Lead AWS and Azure hub-and-spoke networking patterns with centralized inspection.
• Own centralized AWS root account management strategy and Azure break-glass controls.
• Define AWS/Azure governance, observability, identity architecture, and modernization paths.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with AWS, Azure, and GCP Platform Engineering teams.

What you'll need

• 12+ years in platform/cloud engineering with 6+ on AWS at enterprise scale.
• Proven multi-cloud exposure with hands-on Azure platform engineering in regulated environments.
• Expertise in Terraform and IaC governance (policy-as-code/OPA) and CI/CD (GitHub; Spacelift preferred).
• Deep AWS networking and strong Azure networking experience.
• Strong AWS security engineering (SCPs, IAM least privilege, Config/GuardDuty/Security Hub, KMS/CMEK, Secrets Manager).
• Strong Azure security engineering (Azure Policy, deny assignments, RBAC least privilege, Defender for Cloud, Key Vault/CMEK).
• Experience with AWS Control Tower/AVM/Organizations and Azure Management Groups/Enterprise Scale landing zones.
