Principal Architect

Overview

Principal Architect for an AI-first IP intelligence platform, focusing on long-term platform ownership and architecture that powers AI-native workflows, backend orchestration, and scalable frontends.

What you'll do

• Translate existing workbench workflows into modular, explainable enterprise AI platform architecture.
• Design AI-native workflows that reason over long technical documents and cite evidence.
• Build backend services that orchestrate large analytical workloads across a data platform.
• Develop modern frontend experiences for reviewing AI output at scale.
• Drive secure, enterprise-grade Azure-based deployments with Databricks as the data/AI layer.
• Establish DevOps and MLOps foundations including model evaluation.
• Create long-term architectural blueprints while shaping core systems early.

What you'll need

• 12-15+ years in software engineering with significant architectural ownership.
• Proven hands-on experience designing and building large-scale distributed enterprise-grade systems.
• Hands-on track record in modern backend and frontend architectures with essential frontend/UI depth.
• Strong Azure cloud deployment experience with hands-on Databricks experience preferred (PySpark, Delta Lake, MLflow).
• Polyglot capability across Python, TypeScript, Java, Go, or Node.js (or similar).
• Expertise in data storage/query design including SQL and Delta/Lakehouse patterns, plus search index design.

Nice to have

• Experience with vector databases, semantic search, and RAG architectures.
• Experience with IP analytics, patent intelligence, legal tech, or other knowledge-intensive domains.
• Exposure to patent data formats, citation networks, and IPC/CPC classifications.
• Experience building explainable systems in regulated or high-trust environments.

Details

• Location: Gurugram, India.
• Working format: 5 days per week in the office.
• Works with the Director and Head of the Workbench Program in the UK and partners with India operations.
