Principal Engineer, AI Platform Software Architecture

Overview

Principal Engineer role in Qualcomm’s Core Platform Software Architecture team, driving software and system architecture for next-generation AI inferencing platforms across edge AI products.

What you'll do

• Define and drive long-term platform software architecture and technical strategy for AI inferencing.
• Lead cross-functional architectural initiatives across software, hardware, AI accelerators, security, and product teams.
• Collaborate with product management, customers, and silicon architecture teams to translate workloads and requirements into platform architecture and roadmap recommendations.
• Drive hardware/software co-design and influence future platform capabilities via architectural analysis and proposals.
• Lead system-level architecture efforts covering operating systems, AI runtimes, memory systems, virtualization, security, interconnects, and heterogeneous compute.
• Evaluate architectural alternatives and perform tradeoff analysis balancing performance, power, scalability, security, and requirements.
• Mentor engineers and architects and help establish architectural best practices and technical standards.

What you'll need

• Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s with 8+ years, or a Master’s with 7+ years, or a PhD with 6+ years in software engineering or related work.
• 4+ years of experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
• Experience influencing software and silicon architecture decisions across multiple product lines and AI platform generations.
