Principal Mobile Engineer

Overview

Principal Mobile Engineer for Payoneer’s AI-Native Cloud Platform team, building a lightweight, high-performance mobile host foundation for independent product-team feature contributions.

What you'll do

• Own the mobile tech stack decision and its rationale.
• Run evaluations across native iOS/Android vs Flutter vs React Native vs hybrid against real constraints.
• Build the host application foundation including architecture and module boundaries.
• Define the contribution model for product teams to deliver features into the host app.
• Set and enforce platform standards for performance, stability, and crash-free rate.
• Own CI/CD, signing, release, rollout, and mobile observability for debuggability.
• Partner with platform teams to integrate mobile with APIs, events, identity, secrets, and automation.

What you'll need

• 10+ years of mobile engineering experience and shipping mobile foundations to production at scale.
• Deep expertise in at least one of iOS (Swift, Swift concurrency, UIKit, SwiftUI) or Android (Kotlin, coroutines/Flow, Android lifecycle, Jetpack/Compose).
• Experience across cross-platform options with the ability to defend stack recommendations for a fintech-scale app.
• Experience building a modular mobile platform with versioning and keeping the host coherent across teams.
• Ability to work with performance and reliability metrics (startup time, frame rate, binary size, crash-free rate).
• Expertise in mobile observability beyond crash reporting, with shipped instrumentation for debugging.
• Clear communication across engineering, product, and executives, including producing architecture proposals and RFCs.
