Overview
Principal Software Engineer to own and lead Sezzle’s authentication and authorization platform evolution, including an API auth gateway and identity services.
What you'll do
- Own the technical vision and roadmap for authentication and authorization, including the API auth gateway and supporting identity services.
- Architect, design, and build scalable, highly-available auth services and gateway components.
- Lead phased, zero-downtime migrations for auth traffic and functionality with rollback and safety mechanisms.
- Establish and evolve authentication/authorization standards across OAuth2/OIDC, token strategies, and fine-grained authorization models.
- Partner with Security and Compliance to support fintech-grade security and regulatory requirements.
- Drive engineering best practices for observability, security, and CI/CD with rigor on the auth-critical path.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and help lead incident response and postmortems for owned services.
What you'll need
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant backend experience.
- Deep hands-on expertise in authentication/authorization (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT, session-based auth) and token lifecycle management.
- Experience designing/building/operating an API gateway or auth proxy at scale.
- Strong proficiency in Golang and experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
- SQL RDBMS expertise (MySQL/PostgreSQL) with performance optimization experience.
- Distributed systems design pattern knowledge for high-throughput, low-latency edge services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field (required).
