Product Engineer, AI Email App

Overview

Product Engineer for an AI Email App, working at the intersection of user needs, model capability, and engineering constraints. You will define AI behavior, evaluation, and quality bars while partnering with ML and engineering teams.

What you'll do

• Define end-to-end requirements for AI capabilities across model behavior, system behavior, and user experience.
• Translate model capabilities, evaluation results, and constraints into product and system decisions.
• Make trade-offs across quality, latency, cost, reliability, safety, and UX.
• Define and evolve evaluation frameworks using offline metrics, online experiments, and human feedback.
• Identify failure modes and ensure predictable, graceful recovery for AI systems.
• Own product quality end-to-end, including correctness, reliability, usefulness, and user trust.

What you'll need

• Strong computer science fundamentals and system design skills.
• Solid understanding of modern ML and how AI systems behave in production.
• Comfort reading technical designs and engaging with engineers on architectures.
• Intuition for model limitations, hallucinations, evaluation, and failure modes.
• Significant experience owning complex, technical products end-to-end.
• Hands-on experience with AI-powered products, particularly LLM-based systems.
• Ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear requirements and executable plans.
