Product Manager, Safeguards Rare Harms

Overview

Own ideation, design, development, and deployment of Safeguards systems and related product UX to help protect users and measure/mitigate risks for Anthropic’s frontier models across cloud platforms.

What you'll do

• Determine how to implement safety by design upstream and apply downstream defenses for products and cloud surfaces.
• Write safety evals and communicate externally about safety.
• Prioritize ruthlessly by defining problems, solution options, and business/technical tradeoffs toward MVP vs ideal state.
• Align and collaborate with policy, enforcement, research, engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Develop detections, evals, interventions, and tools to measure and mitigate deployment and user risks.
• Plan for mitigation of deployment risks against increasingly powerful models and determined adversaries.

What you'll need

• Ability to make technical tradeoff decisions.
• Deep technical expertise in development, deployment, and measurement of Safeguards systems.
• Ability to design and build metrics to evaluate risks, system performance, and user impact.
• Strong user understanding of product usage, Safeguards concerns, and best solutions.
• Evidence of judgment and decision-making in ambiguous situations.
• Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences in written and verbal communication.

• Hybrid policy: expected to be in an office at least 25% of the time.
