Job description

Overview

Support construction and fit-out project delivery as a Project Engineer within JLL's Project & Development Services team in Mumbai. The role offers exposure to commercial office developments, corporate fit-outs and other facilities while working alongside project managers and engineers.

What you'll do

  • Support the PDS team in delivering construction and fit-out projects across various asset classes.
  • Assist project engineers and managers with day-to-day project coordination, project milestone tracking and deliverable completion according to established timelines.
  • Attend regular site visits to observe construction activities and learn site management and quality control procedures.
  • Document site conditions through photographs, note work progress, identify quality issues and assist in punch list preparation.
  • Assist in reviewing and managing architectural drawings, MEP layouts, structural plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate drawing revisions, maintain updated drawing registers, track submittal logs and ensure document version control.
  • Identify potential clashes or coordination issues across different engineering disciplines.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, attend project meetings, record minutes and track action items.
  • Help prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, project presentations and status dashboards for internal teams and client stakeholders.
  • Assist in coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, consultants and material suppliers.
  • Track contractor deliverables, obtain competitive quotations, maintain vendor databases, process material submittals and approvals and support the procurement process under guidance from senior team members.
  • Assist in tracking costs against approved budgets, reviewing contractor payment applications, maintaining cost registers and preparing budget variance reports.
  • Support project schedule updates, track critical path activities and identify potential delays.
  • Participate in site safety inductions, attend safety meetings, assist in safety inspections and ensure compliance with JLL's HSE policies.
  • Identify potential hazards and understand corrective action protocols.
  • Attend client meetings, understand client requirements and deliver service excellence aligned with JLL PDS standards.
  • Participate in training programs, technical workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Learn industry best practices, emerging technologies in construction and project management tools and techniques.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Recent graduate from the 2023-2025 batches or up to 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Basic understanding of construction processes, building systems and engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with reading technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD, including the ability to view and understand drawings.
  • Competency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to learn project management software such as MS Project, Primavera or similar tools.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow within the project management profession.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi, verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team environments.
  • Proactive attitude with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Adaptability and willingness to take on diverse responsibilities.
  • Professional demeanor suitable for client-facing interactions.
  • Willingness to conduct frequent site visits across Mumbai and surrounding areas in the MMR region.
  • Flexibility to work on-site as required by project demands.
  • Ability to work occasionally beyond standard hours to meet project deadlines.
