Project Engineer

Overview

The Engineering Services S3 Project Engineer role is an entry-level technical position supporting building systems operations and developing technical skills under the guidance of senior engineering staff.

What you'll do

• Assist in the daily construction of building civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Participate in training programs to develop expertise in building systems and operations.
• Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Shadow senior engineers during troubleshooting activities and complex repairs.
• Develop understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
• Assist in preparing operational reports and performance metrics.
• Help maintain equipment logs, maintenance records, and compliance documentation.
• Support energy tracking and sustainability reporting initiatives.
• Participate in safety inspections and audits.

What you'll need

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or relevant technical certification/diploma with equivalent hands-on experience.
• 1 year of experience in facilities operations, building maintenance, engineering support, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of building civil, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Familiarity with standard hand tools and testing equipment.
• Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong desire to learn and develop technical expertise.
• Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.

Nice to have

• Internship or co-op experience in project management or construction may be considered.
• Experience with building systems, including civil, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
