Overview
Project Engineer - Power Quality Solutions responsible for electrical engineering and secondary design for MACH and IED-based control and protection systems, FACTS plant designs, auxiliary power systems and related project execution.
What you'll do
- Execute projects within budget by meeting quality, OTD, efficiency and budget KPIs.
- Design and execute projects in line with customer specifications, FACTS standards and global IEC, ANSI and IEEE standards.
- Execute tenders as per customer and FACTS requirements.
- Prepare MACH-based and IED-based control and protection system cubicle designs.
- Prepare FACTS plant secondary design drawings.
- Design and estimate auxiliary AC and DC power requirements.
- Design LV and MV switchboards, battery systems, UPS and voltage stabilizers.
- Estimate and size LV auxiliary power, control, communication and indication cables.
- Purchase cubicles, cables, junction boxes, AC and DC switchboards, MV switchgear, battery systems, UPS and voltage stabilizers.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Control, System Design and Commissioning departments.
- Validate the EE department project time schedule.
- Review and coordinate vendor and supplier drawings for electrical deliverables, including primary equipment.
- Evaluate and select sub-suppliers as per project requirements.
- Support configuration and testing of protection systems.
- Participate in customer FAT and provide site installation and commissioning support.
- Participate in development and continuous process improvement activities.
- Prepare as-built drawings.
- Take responsibility for own actions while caring for colleagues and the business.
What you'll need
- BE in Electrical Engineering.
- 6 - 10 years of experience in substation secondary or EPC design or project execution, or HVDC control and protection hardware design.
- Strong experience in substation or EPC project execution, or HVDC secondary project execution.
- Strong experience in control and protection cubicle design.
- Experience in detailed plant engineering and working independently using established local and global standards.
- Experience in the electrical grid industry and switchyard equipment.
- Experience handling E3 or a similar design tool.
- Experience using ETAP software for auxiliary system design, load flow analysis and short circuit study.
- Experience in cable engineering.
- In-depth knowledge in a specific area to execute complex or specialized projects or challenges, often thinking independently to challenge traditional solutions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of related disciplines in the organization.
- Excellent English speaking ability and good communication skills.
- Dynamic and proactive approach, willingness to take challenges and grow in the organization.
- Ability to contribute as a team player across different departments and countries.
- High level of ownership and accountability.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
