QA Automation Lead (API+UI) - India

Overview

QA Automation Lead (API+UI) responsible for end-to-end quality ownership for a project, including testing strategy and release readiness. You will lead manual and automation testing efforts across frontend and backend systems.

What you'll do

• Review technical design documents and API specs (Swagger/OpenAPI) and give feedback on testability, edge cases, and integration bottlenecks.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to define automation strategy for new feature releases.
• Design and execute complex test cases for frontend and backend systems.
• Build and maintain comprehensive automated test suites for frontend and backend REST (or GraphQL) APIs.
• Extend backend automation frameworks using tools like Locust or Pytest, RestAssured, and AI-assisted workflows.
• Establish QA best practices, coding standards, and code review processes for the automation team.
• Develop automated test result reports and support bug resolution using AI-assisted root-cause analysis.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 8–12 years in Software Quality Assurance leading quality initiatives for complex distributed systems, microservices, and backend APIs.
• Proactive use of AI-powered tools (e.g., Augment, Cursor, Gemini) to accelerate test authoring and debugging.
• Scalable automation framework design and maintenance for frontend and backend services.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Python.
• Hands-on manual and automated testing for frontend with Playwright and backend REST/GraphQL APIs using tools like Postman, RestAssured, or Locust.
• Ownership of “Continuous Testing” in CI/CD and SDLC concepts including code review and code coverage analysis.

• Performance and load testing experience.
