QA Engineer - O2C & Enterprise Billing Testing

Overview

QA Engineer responsible for testing New Relic's Opportunity-to-Cash and Enterprise Billing systems within the BOBA Frameworks QA team. The role covers financial-system quality across Salesforce CPQ, middleware, the Billing Platform, payment gateways, and NetSuite ERP.

What you'll do

• Execute comprehensive test strategies for the entire Opportunity-to-Cash lifecycle.
• Trace data payloads from order creation in Salesforce CPQ through the final journal entry in NetSuite.
• Test the Enterprise Billing Platform, including invoice generation, taxation using Avalara, proration, discounts, credits, tiered and usage-based pricing models, credit memo issuances, and dunning workflows.
• Own and maintain structured Xray test plans for the PAYG, Savings Plan, and Volume Plan buying programs.
• Ensure traceability from requirements to execution across every billing lifecycle stage.
• Test end-to-end payment flows through Braintree, including authorizations, settlements, partial refunds on multi-invoice payments, funds allocation, unallocated amounts, and invoice statuses.
• Simulate high-volume usage data, validate tier drawdown logic, and verify overage calculations.
• Perform integration testing across Salesforce, the Billing Platform, NetSuite, and Braintree.
• Validate API payloads, investigate failed background syncs, and ensure data integrity between systems.
• Investigate system logs, identify where data synchronization broke down, and provide actionable reproduction steps.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Finance, and business stakeholders to understand revenue rules and create test scenarios.
• Map the Quote-to-Cash pipeline, including Salesforce CPQ, Boomi/PASS provisioning, Billing Platform, NetSuite, Avalara, and Braintree.
• Execute QA for a complete enterprise billing lifecycle from contract activation through invoice approval, tax calculation, and payment processing.
• Triage Billing Platform-to-NetSuite synchronization failures and Boomi provisioning errors.
• Serve as the QA gate for cross-system financial deployments and provide sign-off for changes affecting CPQ, the Billing Platform, or NetSuite.
• Establish a defect triage process in Jira and Xray.
• Standardize Xray-tracked coverage for usage-based billing, commitment invoicing, contract lifecycle boundaries, and edge cases.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of QA experience with a heavy focus on Quote-to-Cash or Order-to-Cash business processes.
• Hands-on experience configuring and testing quotes, product bundles, amendments, and contract renewals within Salesforce CPQ.
• Proven experience testing complex billing systems such as BillingPlatform, Zuora, or similar financial engines.
• Hands-on experience testing enterprise payment gateways; Braintree is heavily preferred, while Stripe or Adyen is acceptable.
• Deep functional understanding of payment lifecycles, including Auth, Capture, Settle, and Refund, and how gateway actions impact Accounts Receivable balances.
• Familiarity with provisioning and event-driven middleware, such as Boomi or equivalent.
• Ability to read a payload log and identify where in the chain a synchronization broke.
• Proficiency in Jira for defect tracking and Agile workflows.
• Strong hands-on experience using Xray as a test management tool.
• Ability to navigate structured test plans, manage test executions, and maintain traceability between bugs, test cases, and product requirements.
• Familiarity with testing consumption-based pricing, tiered pricing, drawdown models, and metered billing logic.
• Experience validating data transfers between systems using tools such as Postman or middleware logs.
• Ability to prove that a system sent the right data even if the user interface has not updated yet.
• Familiarity with enterprise taxation calculation software such as Avalara.
• Ability to understand how missing prerequisite steps can break downstream flows.
• Ability to investigate failed tests using documentation and logs.
• Ability to explain complex API synchronization failures to engineers and their business impact to Finance Managers.
• Ability to set up a controlled test environment, isolate variables, and reach a confident pass/fail verdict when upstream systems are noisy.

Nice to have

• Braintree experience is heavily preferred; Stripe or Adyen experience is acceptable.
