Quality Specialist

Overview

Support the deployment of the quality strategy for a local organizational unit within ABB's Electrification business in the Distribution Solutions division at Nashik, India, including quality culture, systems, tools and competent teams, with the aim of achieving and exceeding customer expectations while ensuring sustainable operations.

What you'll do

• Understand and deploy customer-specific quality requirements across projects, ensuring compliance with applicable quality standards and specifications.
• Drive quality assurance and inspections for electrical equipment, including transformers, AIS/GIS switchgear, RMUs, protection relays, battery chargers, battery systems, UPS, control panels and E-House solutions.
• Monitor and improve the quality performance of third-party suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Conduct supplier audits and factory inspections, and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities.
• Ensure quality compliance during the fabrication and assembly of containerized and E-House solutions.
• Manage customer complaints, lead root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Support onsite quality activities and collaborate with project teams throughout project execution and commissioning.

What you'll need

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (should be full-time).
• Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in quality management within electrical, power distribution, data center or industrial infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of transformers, AIS/GIS/RMU products, protection relays, battery systems and related power distribution equipment.
• Experience in supplier quality management, quality audits, Non-Conformance Report (NCR) management and customer complaint resolution.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001, quality tools such as 8D, 5 Why and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), along with applicable IS/IEC standards.
• Willingness to travel to supplier facilities and project sites, with strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
