Quantitative Developer

Overview

The Quantitative Developer will join Morningstar’s Systematic Strategies team to build scalable research infrastructure for portfolio managers and quantitative researchers.

What you'll do

• Design and maintain scalable data pipelines for market, fundamental, and alternative datasets.
• Build and support investment data platforms and maintain databases and research datasets.
• Integrate and automate data retrieval from internal/external data providers.
• Collaborate with quantitative researchers and portfolio managers to enhance production workflows.
• Automate operational processes using workflow orchestration, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Evaluate and leverage AI/ML and Generative AI to enhance analytics and operational efficiency.

What you'll need

• Strong expertise in Python and PySpark with distributed data processing.
• Experience with Airflow, EMR, AWS Step Functions, Docker, Git, CI/CD, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with Redshift, Athena, DataLake, and Parquet.
• Exposure to portfolio analytics, risk modelling, and performance attribution.
• Experience with platforms such as Axioma, MSCI Barra, or Bloomberg PORT (or similar solutions).
• Preferred technical focus on data pipeline creation and cloud-based services on AWS.

• Location: Mumbai/Delhi (4 days working from office).
• Shift: UK shift (2:00pm/2:30pm to 11:00pm/11:30pm).
