R&D Engineer

Overview

R&D Engineer contributing to technology, software, product and system development within ABB's Electrification business in the Distribution Solutions division at Nashik, India. Reports to the R&D Team Lead.

What you'll do

• Work as an independent and reliable contributor in R&D projects with limited supervision.
• Perform various tasks in the assigned area (e.g., mechanics, electronics, thermal, software), from building concepts and gathering requirements to designing, implementing, integrating, testing, technology transfer or maintenance, and operations.
• Understand and apply applicable processes, standards, guidelines and requirements, including architectural and design constraints.
• Drive the achievement of assigned targets (quality, time, scope, cost) and raise and address risks.
• Identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems, and provide ideas, working both independently and as part of an R&D team.

What you'll need

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (should be full-time).
• Minimum 4 to 8 years of experience in design and development of mechanical parts and assemblies (sheet-metal components, casted and machined metal parts, and molded plastic parts).
• Hands-on experience in prototyping, type testing, and interpreting technical drawings.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo 3D CAD software.
• Strong technical knowledge of Medium Voltage Switchgear (AIS / GIS / RMU).
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
