Overview

Principal Software Engineer responsible for designing and developing hardware abstraction layers for Broadcom switching silicon. The role involves cross-functional software design, implementation, documentation, and testing for high-performance, scalable switching solutions.

What you'll do

• Design hardware abstraction layers for switching silicon.
• Develop software for disaggregated switching solutions.
• Collaborate with marketing, architects, software test, and silicon development teams.
• Implement and document software features.
• Test high-quality software for advanced switching ASICs.
• Program forwarding-plane data using an ASIC SDK.
• Design solutions and implement features independently.

What you'll need

• 10+ years of software development experience in packet forwarding, network operating systems, embedded software, or related fields.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or a similar field.
• Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python.
• Experience with industry-leading switching ASICs from Broadcom or other vendors.
• Hands-on ASIC SDK experience with IPv4/IPv6 hosts and prefixes, adjacency, ARP, ND6, VRF, and ECMP.
• Strong forwarding-plane experience with L2, L3, ACL, QoS, tunnels, SRv6, and telemetry.
• Strong software troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• In-depth understanding of Linux network drivers.
• Familiarity with open-source development tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Gerrit.
