R&D Senior Engineer

Overview

Support ABB's Process Automation R&D team in Bangalore by performing security and network robustness assessment testing of embedded devices, host-based industrial software, web applications, APIs and mobile apps, and by contributing ideas for innovative technology and solutions.

What you'll do

• Perform security and network robustness assessment testing of embedded devices and host-based industrial software, web applications, APIs and mobile apps.
• Analyse results in depth and write technical reports.
• Provide suggestions and fixes for improvement to device and software development teams.
• Evaluate new testing methodologies relevant for the organization.
• Test Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices for security vulnerabilities.
• Research the security of protocols, interfaces and technologies used for communication to cloud-based platforms, and API security.
• Execute assigned tasks and apply technical knowledge in a structured way, staying abreast of the state of the art.

What you'll need

• B.E/B.Tech in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering with 4-8 years of working experience in the security domain.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking and application protocols.
• Understanding of software exploitation and common vulnerabilities.
• Good understanding of port scanning, vulnerability assessment, penetration testing and fuzzing tools.
• Strong knowledge of web application scanning, penetration testing and vulnerability assessment reporting.
• Good knowledge of the HTTP protocol and other protocols associated with web technologies.
• Fair understanding of OWASP Top 10 and SANS 25 vulnerabilities and their mitigations.
• Good knowledge of mobile app and API (REST, SOAP) security testing.
• Good knowledge of cryptographic and security protocols such as SSL and PKI.
• Comfortable with web frameworks such as Flask or Django.
• Demonstrable experience of using Python in an object-oriented environment.
• In-depth knowledge of Linux, Windows Server/Desktop and macOS operating systems.
• Experience of Selenium, PyTest or similar test automation frameworks.
• Experience in Python automation framework/environment.
• Experience in integrating security tools into build pipelines for automated scans.
• Experience in Azure DevOps.
• Excellent partnership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with Dev and QA teams, program/product managers, technical publications and other project partners.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of control communication protocols and technologies (a major plus).
• Hands-on experience with Java, shell script and Golang.
