R&D Testing & Laboratory Specialist

Overview

Support routine electrical testing of low voltage switchgear and control products in ABB's Electrification Smart Power Division laboratory in Hyderabad, India, reporting to the R&D Team Lead.

What you'll do

• Set up and execute routine tests for different products according to standard testing methodologies and requirements.
• Support sample preparation and execution of tests for low voltage switchgear products according to test plans, in coordination with Global R&D and manufacturing plant project teams.
• Support test reports according to the applicable standard(s) for the tested product.
• Follow the BIS testing process for completing QCO testing.
• Design and develop jigs and fixtures required for testing.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for any failures observed during testing.
• Travel and coordinate with internal and external labs for developmental and certification testing.
• Support maintenance activities related to the equipment and tools used by the laboratory.
• Follow HSSE norms including PPE, LOTO, material storage and handling, and raise alarms for any risk.
• Maintain housekeeping in the lab area.

What you'll need

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the 2026 batch.
• Good knowledge of IEC and UL standards and regulatory requirements for low voltage switchgear products.
• Experience conducting electrical testing on low voltage switchgear and control products.
• Good understanding of safety requirements while operating electrical devices.
• Ability to carry out tests independently as per product standards.
• Strong knowledge of electrical test setups.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
