SAP-FICO-FERC Reporting - Manager

Overview

Functional Application Manager leading design workshops, assessments and planning sessions, and designing, building, configuring, testing, deploying and supporting SAP S/4HANA Finance (FI) solutions, including FERC regulatory reporting for utilities/energy engagements.

What you'll do

• Lead and facilitate design workshops, assessments and planning sessions.
• Lead dynamic, interactive requirements-gathering sessions with stakeholders throughout the enterprise.
• Lead analysis and design in SAP FI and FERC areas in collaboration with the engagement/client finance team.
• Lead a team of Finance specialists and facilitate the implementation and support teams.
• Mentor, coach and manage multiple teams and projects.
• Manage teams, conduct structured testing with users, and drive automation of solutions.
• Configure, test and support SAP Finance solutions across GL, AR, AP, Asset Accounting, Bank Accounting and Taxation.
• Translate accounting requirements into system configuration.
• Participate in design discussions and propose alternative design solutions across FI processes.
• Ensure stabilization of the solution and deliver quality consistently.
• Collaborate across multiple workstreams and develop cost-effective solutions that meet user requirements.

What you'll need

• Extensive SAP S/4HANA Finance expert with solution design experience across the full FI stack, preferably with an accounts and finance background.
• Leadership experience in project management, including leading and facilitating design workshops, assessments and planning sessions.
• Strong, hands-on expertise across FI-GL: New GL, document splitting, parallel ledgers/accounting principles, chart of accounts design, financial statement versions, and period-end closing activities.
• Strong, hands-on expertise across FI-AR: customer master data, credit management, dunning, incoming payments, down payments, and customer-side intercompany processes.
• Strong, hands-on expertise across FI-AP: vendor master data, payment runs, payment terms, down payments, automatic/electronic payments, and vendor reconciliation.
• Strong, hands-on expertise across Asset Accounting (FI-AA): asset classes, depreciation areas, parallel valuation, asset acquisitions/retirements/transfers, and integration with GL and CO, including regulated utility plant and FERC asset classification where applicable.
• Strong, hands-on expertise across Bank Accounting/Treasury integration: bank master data, electronic bank statement processing, cash management, and bank reconciliation.
• Strong, hands-on expertise across Taxation: tax procedures, tax codes, withholding tax, and statutory/compliance reporting requirements.
• Basic, working knowledge of Controlling (CO-CCA, CO-PCA, Internal Orders) sufficient to support FI-CO integration points and cross-module postings.
• Strong knowledge of FERC regulatory reporting for the utilities/energy industry, including FERC Form 1/2/6 preparation, regulatory chart of accounts mapping, and FERC account classification within SAP.
• Hands-on experience configuring FERC-compliant Asset Accounting structures: Continuing Property Records (CPR), AFUDC (debt and equity components), CWIP capitalization, retirement units, and regulatory versus book depreciation.
• Understanding of the regulatory ledger/parallel ledger approach (New GL document splitting or FI-SL) to maintain FERC regulatory books alongside US GAAP/IFRS books, including regulatory asset/liability (ASC 980) accounting.
• Experience supporting FERC audits and regulatory filings, including variance analysis between book and regulatory basis of accounting.
• Proven experience configuring, testing and supporting SAP Finance solutions across GL, AR, AP, Asset Accounting, Bank Accounting and Taxation.
• Hands-on experience across S/4HANA Finance features, with ability to design, develop and customize solutions, including integration with MM/SD/PS/PP/PM/IM and how procurement, sales and production postings flow into FI.
• Knowledge of CFIN and understanding of eliminating ETL tools to enable transactional-level matching in real time.
• Understanding of AIF and field value mapping, centralized transaction processing, payments, intercompany reconciliation, and group consolidation using S/4HANA Group Reporting.
• Working familiarity with the S/4HANA Intercompany Matching and Reconciliation (ICMR) tool and a solid accounting and finance background.
• 10+ years of experience in SAP S/4HANA Finance, with a minimum of 3 end-to-end implementations.
• Any graduation degree and any post-graduation degree.
• Ability to translate accounting requirements into system configuration.

Nice to have

• Knowledge and experience in implementing SAP S/4HANA Group Reporting.
• Understanding of Agile and Scrum project methodologies.
• Familiarity with utility/energy industry regulatory frameworks and reporting cycles (annual FERC filings, rate case support, regulatory audits).
• Exposure to Public Utility industry-specific functionality, Work Order management integration (PM/PS) for capital project accounting, and minor/major retirement processing relevant to utility plant.
• Prior exposure to utility/energy sector engagements involving FERC regulatory reporting.
• CA/ICWA preferred.
• Familiarity with onsite/offshore delivery models and system landscape environments (Dev/QA/Prod, transport management for FI/FERC configuration).
• Familiarity with Implementations/Support/Rollout/Training delivery models, including FERC reporting testing phases (regulatory report validation, UAT, cutover/deployment support).
• Familiarity with role matrix/role testing and ability to guide technical team members.
• Familiarity with both Waterfall and Agile software development approaches.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ownership and commitment, flexible timings.
• Expertise in JIRA and Agile delivery model.
