Senior AI-Native Product Engineer, Mobile

Overview

Build and define the mobile architecture for AI-powered conversations in Zillow Instant Messaging across iOS and Android. Own cross-platform decisions and deliver resilient, richly interactive messaging experiences.

What you'll do

• Design and ship mobile architecture for streaming AI responses, structured conversations, and multimodal content.
• Own cross-platform architecture for the ZIM messaging core across Swift and Kotlin.
• Build real-time messaging experiences for unreliable mobile networks.
• Partner with AI, Web, and Backend teams on the conversational AI roadmap.
• Use AI coding agents in production workflows and help establish team standards.
• Improve testing and delivery through unit, snapshot, and UI automation.
• Mentor engineers across iOS and Android.

What you'll need

• 5+ years building and shipping native mobile applications at consumer scale.
• Production experience on both iOS and Android, or demonstrated delivery across both platforms.
• Fluency in Swift and Kotlin.
• Experience with SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose.
• Experience building features using real-time or streaming data.
• Experience integrating GraphQL clients and managing cache invalidation.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating LLM or generative AI features into consumer mobile products.
• Experience with messaging, chat, or communications products.
• Experience with on-device inference or streaming token-level UI rendering.
• Experience driving technical standards adoption beyond the immediate team.

• Remote position in the United States.
• Annual base pay ranges from $152,900 to $257,100 depending on location.
