Overview
Own the flow of data from source systems through to trusted reports and insights as a hands-on Data Engineer / BI Analyst. Build reliable pipelines, curated data, Power BI semantic models and reports, while enabling business users to self-serve and ask questions of data in natural language through AI.
What you'll do
- Own the data flow from source systems to the reports the business relies on.
- Keep extraction, transformation, feeds and scheduled reports flowing reliably.
- Design, implement and optimise ETL/ELT data pipelines from multiple sources.
- Implement data validation, cleansing and governance practices.
- Work directly with business stakeholders to scope and build bespoke datasets and reports.
- Maintain data dictionaries, pipelines and delivery methods, including SFTP feeds and Google Sheets integrations.
- Design and maintain the Power BI semantic layer for reliable business self-service.
- Build and maintain BI models, reports and dashboards.
- Own end-to-end recurring data processes such as CAIS, DCM and data tapes.
- Own Power BI and Synapse Analytics tooling, including configuration, security, access, maintenance, upgrades and user enablement/training.
- Enable business users to ask questions about data in natural language through AI.
- Provide training and knowledge sharing to enable business self-service.
- Ensure observability and resolve problems, alerts, incidents and BAU requests.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of experience as DE/BI.
- Fluency in English.
- Ability to work UK working hours.
- Solid SQL skills.
- Solid Azure Synapse or Azure Data Factory skills.
- Solid Power BI skills.
- Experience in a regulated industry such as financial services or healthcare, where audit trails and data accuracy have compliance implications and some reports are deadline-sensitive.
