Senior Development Engineer in Test

Overview

Serve as a Senior Development Engineer in Test responsible for ensuring the delivery of scalable, microservice-based solutions to enterprise clients. Drive testing projects to completion, mentor team members, and recommend testing best practices for the future direction of product testing.

What you'll do

• Complete engineering onboarding, set up local development and testing environments, and build understanding of product capabilities and microservices architecture.
• Shadow team members on existing testing workflows and execute initial test cases within sprint cycles.
• Take ownership of test planning and validation for assigned feature areas.
• Develop detailed manual and automated test cases covering functional, regression, and integration scenarios.
• Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive testing activities across complex microservices features.
• Partner with development teams to reproduce and triage defects.
• Analyze test metrics and ensure comprehensive test coverage across supported operating systems and database environments.
• Champion automated testing best practices, reduce test execution cycle times, and optimize test harness reliability.
• Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering leadership to align testing strategy with product delivery goals.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for product test engineering and automation frameworks.
• Drive continuous quality improvements and establish testing standards for new platform capabilities.
• Mentor team members across the organization.
• Use AI development tools to accelerate delivery, expand scope, and raise quality while reviewing, validating, and owning shipped work.

What you'll need

• Bachelors degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 6+ years of professional experience in testing enterprise software, preferably in a Java/J2EE environment.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain comprehensive manual and automated test cases and test harnesses.
• Hands-on experience with one or more automated UI testing frameworks, such as Selenium, Silk Test, Sahi, or equivalent.
• Strong working knowledge of SQL and experience with one or more relational database platforms, such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, DB2, or PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience configuring test environments, including application servers such as Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere, or JBoss, across Windows Server and Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Familiarity with JavaScript, XML, and Java.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with software development engineers for defect reproduction and resolution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong analytical and diagnostic abilities.
• Comfort with prompting, agentic workflows, and human-in-the-loop review of AI-generated code.
• Experience with AI-related technologies including Cursor, Claude Code, Python-based AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, and numpy, deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, and LLMs and foundation models in Bedrock, VertexAI, or similar.

Nice to have

• Experience with LDAP, Active Directory, or other enterprise identity systems.
• Experience testing cloud-native applications hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum software development methodologies.
