Senior Engineer(Backend), AVP

Overview

Serve as a seasoned technical leader and hands-on software engineer to improve functional performance and help deliver divisional business goals. Design, implement, test, release and support maintainable solution components across user interfaces, services and databases.

What you'll do

• Lead the feature team by understanding requirements, analyzing and refining stories, designing solutions, implementing them, testing them and supporting them in production.
• Use BDD techniques while collaborating with users, analysts, developers and other testers to make sure the team is building the right thing.
• Develop rapid prototypes.
• Write clean code, use test-driven development and refactor constantly.
• Work across a range of technologies and components, including user interfaces, services and databases.
• Define and evolve the architecture of components and contribute to architectural decisions at department and bank-wide level.
• Ensure software is reliable and easy to support in production.
• Provide 3rd line support on call when needed.
• Help the team build, test and release software within short lead times and with minimum waste.
• Develop and maintain a highly automated Continuous Delivery pipeline.
• Help create a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the team and beyond.

What you'll need

• Experience in Spec Driven Development using AI tools.
• Proficiency in Java / Kotlin with a good understanding of object-oriented and functional programming concepts.
• Practical experience building data engineering solutions.
• Strong knowledge of Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Maven, PHP, Reddis and Elastic Search.
• Strong knowledge of GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines and container-native delivery using Docker, Kubernetes and Helpm.
• Experience setting up key stores, generating SSL certificates, gateways and Apigee.
• Experience working in an agile team and practicing Scrum, Kanban or XP.
• Architecture and design approaches that support rapid, incremental and iterative delivery, such as Domain Driven Design, CQRS, Event Sourcing and microservices.
• Deep API design experience with GraphQL and REST, and inter-service communication using sync and async/eventing.
• High-performance SQL data access and SQL scripts.
• Experience with Oracle 10G or higher for Liquibase database automation and Postgres, including modelling, performance and zero-low downtime schema change.
• Ability to read and safely evolve an unfamiliar legacy PHP codebase.
• Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and optimize workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.

Nice to have

• Experience of automated testing.
