Overview
Drive and implement a comprehensive test strategy using appropriate testing tools and techniques. Design and deliver quality tests, automated data testing scenarios, and facilitate knowledge transfers to other testers within the department.
What you'll do
- Work closely with BSAs and developers to understand and define system requirements and acceptance criteria for user stories and upcoming features.
- Understand the impact of software on other areas of the system and identify gaps in requirements.
- Identify the scope of testing, including systems integration and regression testing, and apply test techniques to ensure coverage.
- Work with development to ensure a comprehensive and robust suite of automated tests, from unit and integration tests to user journey tests.
- Identify data requirements to satisfy test cases and create and maintain test data.
- Perform continuous exploratory and manual testing of each functional area and user story across the web service and user interface layers.
- Check screen, file, and database outputs to ensure system effectiveness.
- Ensure comprehensive test strategies are in place for non-functional areas such as performance and load.
- Ensure team processes meet quality standards and champion new practices where appropriate.
- Discuss and review outputs produced by team members and ensure standards across the team are maintained.
- Demonstrate working functionality and user stories to the product owner and during team showcases.
- Provide input into user story points and estimates.
- Facilitate knowledge transfers to other testers within the department.
- Advise on tests to put in place after fixes are made.
- Propose improvements to project practices and processes to improve team effectiveness and software delivery.
- Interact and collaborate with development, business analysis, project management, and SME disciplines.
- Establish collaborative relationships with other teams to ensure success of project test phases.
- Anticipate problems or issues, forecast high-risk areas in software, and drive resolution.
- Provide timely and meaningful test result updates to management.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
- Five plus years’ experience in a QA/Testing technical role.
- A proven track record of testing software developments in a structured environment.
- Experience of the defect lifecycle.
- Ability to work in a continually changing environment and adapt to changing requirements and priorities at short notice.
- Excellent understanding of test levels from unit tests to UAT.
- Ability to advise the team on what to test and what not to test as part of a cohesive testing strategy.
- Sound technical skills and understanding of high-level system architecture components such as application servers, databases, and web services.
- Understanding of basic programming constructs.
- Experience in one or more test frameworks and scripting automated functional tests.
- Good team-player skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working on user stories and defining clear acceptance criteria.
- Good experience in API and Microservices testing.
- Good experience in test frameworks and scripting automated functional tests.
- Good experience in Functional Testing, End-to-End, Regression, and Smoke Testing tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong self-motivation, organization, attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly comprehend project goals and requirements, identify gaps, omissions, testing challenges, and impediments.

- Experience working in an AWS environment.
- Experience creating test cases using GitHub Copilot.
