Senior Instructional Designer

Overview

Samsara is seeking a creative Senior Instructional Designer on the Customer Education team to develop learning strategies, customer-facing training and AI-driven instructional content for its Connected Operations platform.

What you'll do

• Work with stakeholders across the company to define training requirements, learning goals and user needs for both customers and partners.
• Craft and build learning and credentialing experiences in different formats (online learning, audio, video, in-app, etc.), working within the constraints of different templates and business requirements.
• Leverage a wide range of tools (AI-based content authoring, multimedia) to develop content rapidly and iteratively.
• Push the team to evolve and improve its processes, and to discover and test new instructional development models and tooling.
• Solicit reviews from partners and SMEs, and review others' content and assessments for effectiveness.
• Own an assigned Samsara product area by monitoring updates, maintaining its curriculum, and partnering with leadership on incoming requests.
• Build product expertise through self-directed research, available AI tools, and targeted collaboration with SMEs to validate content.
• Design and write engaging and effective assessments.
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's values and operating principles as the company scales globally and across new offices.

What you'll need

• 3-5+ years of learning design or instructional design experience in a software/SaaS setting.
• Knowledge of standard instructional design methodologies and a proven ability to craft learning content that is effective and engaging.
• Ability to communicate abstract or technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences (visually and in writing).
• Ability to identify the best learning delivery formats (e.g., online learning, assessments, audio-based lessons) for a specific set of objectives.
• Collaboration skills and teamwork.
• Attention to design aesthetics and visual detail.
• Knowledge of legacy and emerging content development tools such as Parta.io, Articulate, Camtasia, Zoom, Clueso etc.

Nice to have

• Comfort working within an AI-driven content development process, including AI-assisted authoring, review, and iteration.
• Experience developing in-app training or contextual product education.

Details

• Remote position open to candidates residing in the US, except the San Francisco Bay Metro Area, NYC Metro Area, and Washington, D.C. Metro Area.
• Annual base salary range: $76,457.50 to $115,650 USD, varying by primary work location and other factors.
