Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role in Hyderabad supporting supplier transfer and cost optimization initiatives within the Global Operations and Supply Chain organization.

What you'll do

• Lead medium to high complexity supplier transfer and cost optimization initiatives using engineering analysis.
• Perform design/engineering documentation gap assessments, manufacturing print reviews, and remediation for RFQs.
• Support ideation workshops using economic analysis and supplier quote validation for savings projects.
• Drive product sustenance engineering, including design, manufacturing methods, production processes, and compliance.
• Develop and evaluate cost reduction proposals using should-costing, material analysis, and supplier optimization.
• Create and refine 2D drawings and 3D CAD models; support reverse engineering.
• Perform engineering change management using PDM/PLM tools and maintain reporting with Power BI/MS.

What you'll need

• 10+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design, product sustenance, manufacturing engineering, supplier development, or cost optimization.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
• Expertise across design and manufacturing methods (Stamping, Plastics, Packaging, PDC parts).
• Understanding and use of financial terms for cost savings during project scoping and proposal creation.
• Experience with DFMA, manufacturability, accuracy, and completeness validation.
• Familiarity with engineering change management procedures using PDM/PLM (Agile, Windchill).
• Working knowledge of MS and Power BI tools for reporting and data analysis.
