Senior Performance QA Engineer

Overview

Qualys is hiring a Senior Applications & Systems Performance QA Engineer to work on the "Next-generation Platform & Middleware" team, prototyping, designing and developing tools to benchmark middleware and the platform, as part of building a Micro-Services based platform that processes over 100 million transactions and terabytes of data per day.

What you'll do

• Prototype, design and develop tools to benchmark middleware and platform.
• Work with a team of engineers and architects on challenging, business-impacting projects using open source technologies.
• Model workloads, plan tests, execute and analyze performance results.
• Perform performance benchmarking, stress, load, endurance and scalability testing.
• Identify bottlenecks across application, database, API and infrastructure layers.
• Analyze JVM, memory, CPU, thread dumps and GC behavior.
• Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with Dev, QA, SRE and Product teams on performance improvements.

What you'll need

• Strong hands-on experience with JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar performance tools.
• Experience in workload modeling, test planning, execution and analysis.
• Expertise in performance benchmarking, stress, load, endurance and scalability testing.
• Strong knowledge of application monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, Grafana, Dynatrace or Splunk.
• Experience identifying bottlenecks across application, database, API and infrastructure layers.
• Good understanding of Microservices, Kubernetes, Docker and Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with API performance testing and distributed systems.
• Strong SQL and database performance analysis skills.
• Ability to analyze JVM, memory, CPU, thread dumps and GC behavior.
• Experience integrating performance tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate with Dev, QA, SRE and Product teams for performance improvements.
• Good communication, ownership and leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Exposure to production monitoring and performance tuning.
