Overview
Staff Platform Engineer at Lingo, Abbott's biosensing technology team, responsible for hands-on platform engineering on Azure while allocating day-to-day work to and developing two direct reports at the India location.
What you'll do
- Own the day-to-day work allocation for your team, ensuring engineers have well-scoped, meaningful work that matches their skills and develops their capabilities.
- Support your team through technical challenges, unblocking complex problems and guiding engineers toward solutions rather than solving everything yourself.
- Build, provision, and maintain Lingo's cloud infrastructure on Azure, taking ownership of technically complex or high-risk platform work alongside your team.
- Own and evolve key areas of Lingo's infrastructure-as-code foundation using Terraform or Bicep, including module design, standards, and code review for your team's contributions.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipeline architecture for Lingo's engineering teams, defining deployment patterns, environment promotion gates, and release automation standards that your team implements and operates.
- Lead from the front on SRE practices, contributing to SLO and SLI definitions, designing alerting and monitoring configurations, and driving post-incident reviews that generate real engineering improvements.
- Build and maintain observability tooling across Lingo's production environment, covering distributed tracing, log pipelines, and metrics collection, ensuring engineering teams have the visibility they need.
- Partner with product and feature engineering teams to support their deployment needs, onboard them to platform tooling, and reduce friction in the path from development to production.
- Contribute to architecture and design discussions with the Platform Engineer Lead and Senior Manager, providing practical input grounded in your day-to-day operational experience.
- Document infrastructure, runbooks, and operational processes in a way that supports knowledge sharing across Lingo's globally distributed engineering team spanning the US, Spain, and India.
- Identify process, tooling, and reliability improvements within your team's domain and drive them to completion with appropriate prioritization and stakeholder communication.
