Overview
Lead should-cost modeling and benchmarking for complex assemblies and parts across aircraft, defense products and subsystems, giving the sourcing team cost transparency for supplier negotiations.
What you'll do
- Lead cost modeling and benchmarking activities spanning complex assemblies and parts.
- Utilize aPriori significantly, along with home-grown regression models and models still to be developed.
- Perform should-cost modeling for all commodities, including supplier-designed equipment, electronics, composites and other difficult should-costing commodities.
- Translate engineering drawings and models into costed elements (material, labor, overhead, tooling, logistics).
- Develop and maintain cost roll-ups and drivers at appropriate levels of granularity to support negotiations.
- Create assumptions and cost driver logic.
- Use historical data to create forward-looking models when should-costing software is not available.
- Validate and calibrate models at appropriate intervals.
- Train new users of software or models and help upgrade standard work.
- Conduct should-cost assessments on parts using aPriori.
What you'll need
- Typically a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience, or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Costing or design-to-cost experience.
- Experience with should-cost tools.
Nice to have
- Programming experience (VB, SQL, Python).
- Experience in aerospace/defense procurement or engineering.
- Experience with big data sets or data analytics.
