Senior Professional - Strategic Sourcing

Overview

Senior Professional - Strategic Sourcing role responsible for developing and deploying India sourcing and supply base strategies for mechanical commodities (especially fabricated and machined parts, assemblies) used in building paper and packaging machinery.

What you'll do

• Develop and deploy mechanical commodity sourcing strategy aligned with business goals.
• Understand sourcing needs and scout, screen and shortlist suppliers.
• Conduct comprehensive supplier assessments (capability, capacity, techno-commercial, EHS, QMS, financials etc).
• Execute RFIs, RFPs and RFQs and evaluate supplier proposals using total cost of ownership (TCO) models.
• Negotiate pricing, leadtimes, payment terms, SLAs, general terms and conditions, stocking program and KPIs with new and existing suppliers.
• Lead and drive product and process qualifications and business integration of suppliers.
• Lead and drive supply base spend consolidation and grow, maintain or exit strategies.
• Routinely analyse spend data and monitor macro and micro economic and market trends to identify cost, lead time and supply chain optimization opportunities and risks.
• Proactively assess supply base and supply chain risks (capacity, capabilities, flexibility, geo-political, financial, operational etc) and implement contingency and mitigation plans.
• Demonstrate leadership and drive supply recovery during crisis.
• Engage early and effectively partner with internal customers, procurement operations, quality, commodity leaders, engineering and finance to optimize procurement cost and enable sustainable sourcing solutions.
• Conduct monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual performance and business reviews with key suppliers, and lead resolution of issues.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Operations Management.
• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in direct material strategic sourcing.
• Strong knowledge and proven skills in sourcing mechanical parts (fabricated, machined etc) in India.
• Must have worked in global MNCs.
• Proven track record in identifying, evaluating, onboarding and developing highly capable and high-performing suppliers; negotiating contracts and agreements; conducting market research and spend analytics; consolidating the supply base; proactively identifying and mitigating supply chain risks; delivering measurable cost savings and lead time reductions, improved payment terms and cash flow; growing regional spend and savings; and improving sourcing and procurement processes.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of supply chain domain functions.
• Experience collaborating with global and regional stakeholders (procurement operations, quality, commodity leaders, engineering, finance etc).
• Exposure to ERPs, sourcing platforms, data and analytic tools.

Nice to have

• Industry recognized credentials/certificates (CPSM/CIPS/CPM/CPIM/CSCP/PMP).
• Experience with capital equipment (machinery) manufacturing MNCs.
• Strategic sourcing expertise in mechanical commodity, supplier landscape awareness and costing knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, presentation and articulation skills, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Financial acumen, strategic thinking, analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
