Overview

Senior Service Now Software Engineer role at Barclays, focused on designing, developing and improving software that provides business, platform and technology capabilities, and on spearheading the evolution of infrastructure and deployment pipelines.

What you'll do

• Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks and tools.
• Ensure code is scalable, maintainable and optimized for performance.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaborate with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities.
• Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability and reliability.
• Build and manage robust, scalable and secure infrastructure, ensuring seamless delivery of digital solutions.
• Advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
• Lead a team performing complex tasks, set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives.

What you'll need

• ServiceNow experience of the platform and ability to understand the core CSDM model, platform upgrades, the security model and how integrations work via APIs.
• Be a certified CSA and CAD admin and developer to be able to lead and build functionality as a sole lead without supervision.
• Understand all programming languages and data models to a very good level and be able to follow best practices in an enterprise setting.

Nice to have

• Experience of CSM module in FSO context.
• Experience of working in enterprise regulated industry.
• Good experience with AI models and ability to work with tools like GitLab Duo and Claude Code.
