Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Overview

Senior SDET owning quality for the Customer Lifetime Orchestrator, an omni-channel marketing and customer engagement platform for banks, together with the engineering team. This is a hands-on test design and automation role, not a downstream QA handoff.

What you'll do

• Define and execute test strategy and test plans per release, covering scope, risks, schedule, and entry/exit criteria.
• Co-author acceptance criteria and Gherkin scenarios with Product, and act as quality gatekeeper before releases.
• Build and maintain Playwright web E2E tests for real-world customer journeys across engagement channels.
• Govern mobile E2E strategy (Android/iOS) with engineers, using device-farm and matrix testing.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD with GitHub Actions, including smoke, regression, and quality gates.
• Manage test environments with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Use Grafana (or similar) to analyse test results and improve feedback loops.
• Combine automation with exploratory and manual testing for edge cases, reduce flakiness, and improve parallelization.
• Coach engineers on TDD, BDD, contract tests, synthetic data, and shift-left practices.
• Advocate AI-assisted testing for generation, visual regression, and maintenance.

What you'll need

• 5+ years as SDET or hands-on QA with an automation-first mindset.
• Strong test planning and acceptance-criteria design with Product and UX.
• Playwright (web), Espresso (Android), and XCUITest (iOS).
• Java and JavaScript/TypeScript; Angular SPA, mobile, and microservices.
• API testing with REST, Postman, RestAssured or equivalent.
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions or Jenkins, BDD/Gherkin, and web and mobile E2E testing.
• Cloud platforms (preferably Azure) and Docker/Kubernetes.
• Device and browser farms such as Sauce Labs, BrowserStack, or equivalent.
• Git/GitHub and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
• Non-functional testing covering performance, security, accessibility, and localization.
• Excellent communication in distributed teams across India, Vietnam, and Europe.

Nice to have

• Digital banking, martech, or campaign/engagement management experience.
• Performance testing with k6, Gatling, or JMeter.
• SaaS or enterprise software testing experience.
• AI/ML product testing; XRay, CucumberStudio, SonarCloud, or security tooling.
