Senior Software Engineer

Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Fullstack) in MiQ's technology department, working on the company's unified data platform that covers ingestion, processing and cataloguing of data for programmatic decision-making.

What you'll do

• Build and manage the data platform with a focus on scalability and future-proofing data systems in line with changing programmatic trends.
• Enable Data Scientists and Analysts to ingest, process and analyze large volumes of data effectively, leading to optimised models and insights.
• Embed governance practices and stringent data security measures in the platform, ensuring compliance with regulations and protection of sensitive information.
• Work with product, acting as a pivot between product and engineering, to accommodate business growth based on user and stakeholder interactions.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
• 4-7 years of development experience with an Object-Oriented Language (Java/Kotlin/C++).
• Excellent grasp of one or more languages, including an OO language.
• Strong coding skills and good at writing SQL queries.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent understanding of Object-Oriented Design and Design Patterns, algorithms and data structures.
• Excellent understanding of Microservices architecture and product development using Java/Kotlin/C++.
• At least 1 year of experience working with any JS framework such as Angular JS or React JS.
• Experience working in a Linux environment.
• Good understanding of multi-tier web applications and experience building REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience developing applications using Java Enterprise platforms on UNIX/Linux.
• Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as HBase, Cassandra or MongoDB, and good understanding of column-based datastores like Redshift.
