Senior Software Engineer

Overview

Senior Software Engineer role that assists in leading software development projects through the phase gate process, writing significant code and supporting the full software lifecycle from requirements through field support.

What you'll do

• Assist in leading software development projects through the phase gate process.
• Write a significant amount of the code that meets project requirements and complies with documentation and design standards.
• Write the standard documentation used to translate project needs into software design specifications.
• Assist in creating the overall architecture for various software systems.
• Correct defects found through QA software testing and systems testing.
• Assist in requirements gathering and product definition activities as projects start.
• Support field test personnel after development.
• Coach other engineers and occasionally provide direction to testing and lab support personnel.
• Address challenging aspects of code and documentation development, and contribute to oversight of software team work product.
• Lead projects or research of moderate complexity, and review the work of lower-level professionals.

What you'll need

• Typically a degree and 5-8 years of experience.
• Or no degree and 9-12 years of combined education and equivalent work experience (typically 1 year of experience = 1 year of education).
• Applies advanced knowledge of the job area, typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.

Details

• Normally reports to the Software Engineering Manager.
