Senior Software Engineer – Industrial IoT & Edge Systems

Overview

Senior Software Engineer for Industrial IoT & Edge Systems, building OS platform capabilities, edge services, and industrial gateways.

What you'll do

• Design and evolve OS platform capabilities for C++ and Linux-based packaging, deployment, runtime, and observability.
• Implement integrations and protocol handling using MQTT, Modbus, BACnet, and OPC UA.
• Design and develop software gateways and edge services to connect devices, normalize/route data, and convert protocols.
• Diagnose complex issues across applications, OS, containers, networks, protocols, and open-source components.
• Lead root-cause analysis and drive sustainable corrective actions.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, quality, site, and engineering teams in an agile, globally distributed environment.
• Create architecture decisions, interface specifications, standards, troubleshooting guidance, and technical documentation.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of complex production software or platform components.
• Hands-on expertise with Ubuntu Linux (services, processes, filesystems, permissions, package management, logging, networking, troubleshooting).
• Strong hands-on C++ skills for designing, debugging, and maintaining production-grade software.
• Advanced practical experience with Docker containers (Dockerfiles, image creation, Docker Compose, networking, storage, upgrades, runtime troubleshooting).
• Knowledge of Industrial IoT and industrial communication protocols including MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU, BACnet, and OPC UA.
• Experience integrating with industrial devices/gateways/controllers and working with unreliable network and distributed failure modes.
• Experience with architecture/interface design, design patterns, concurrency, memory/resource management, and performance optimization.

Nice to have

• Python and Bash scripting for automation, tooling, testing, and diagnostics.
• Knowledge of IP networking, routing, DNS, TLS, certificates, firewalls, and field-network troubleshooting.
• Experience with observability and open-source components such as Grafana, time-series systems, message brokers, or monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with cloud or hybrid edge environments, including AWS EC2.
• Familiarity with Node.js/TypeScript, NestJS, PostgreSQL, or related technologies.
