Senior Software Engineer, Java

Overview

Software Engineer to maintain and enhance a GIS-based platform in Hyderabad that gives underwriting, claims and enterprise risk management teams insight into risk concentrations and natural peril risk scores.

What you'll do

• Maintain and enhance GIS platform components, including APIs and UI.
• Install, maintain and support the ArcGIS Platform and products.
• Develop and optimize REST backend services in Java / Spring Boot.
• Configure and support Oracle as an ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabase.
• Create ArcGIS ST Geometry functions in Oracle for spatial data management.
• Develop scripts and automation tools using Python.
• Support Python processes using ArcGIS, ArcPy APIs and functions.
• Develop maps, features and image services with ArcGIS APIs.
• Participate in code reviews, testing and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Contribute to Agile development practices and participate in sprint activities.
• Document technical solutions, designs and best practices.

What you'll need

• 2-4 years of experience in software engineering with expertise in backend development.
• Strong background in GIS concepts and hands-on experience with tools like ESRI ArcGIS.
• Solid background in OOP with experience in Java and Spring Boot.
• Solid PL/SQL in Oracle database for data management and querying.
• Programming experience in Python.
• Understanding of developing and managing RESTful APIs.
• Experience working within Agile development methodologies.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL Server and/or Postgres databases.
• Familiarity with natural peril risk modeling and evaluation techniques.
