Senior Software Engineer, Safety Foundation

Overview

Senior Software Engineer on the Safety Foundation team, building the infrastructure backbone that powers safety and moderation across Roblox.

What you'll do

• Contribute to the architecture and development of the Safety Platform, the backbone that powers safety across Roblox.
• Help design and build the developer experience layer that enables product teams to integrate safety capabilities in hours, not months.
• Take ownership of projects from concept to deployment, ensuring high quality, reliability, and scalability.
• Partner closely with Trust & Safety ML, User Safety, Safety Operations, and product teams to translate platform needs into durable infrastructure.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience building and operating backend services and/or distributed systems.
• Proficient in Go or a similar compiled language.
• Experience with or strong interest in building developer platforms.
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with CQRS, Event Sourcing, and NoSQL technologies such as Cassandra or DynamoDB.
• Go strongly preferred.

Details

• Location: San Mateo, CA, United States (headquarters).
• Onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.
• Reports to the Engineering Manager of the Safety Foundation team.
• Annual base salary range $196,750 to $243,290 USD; eligible for equity compensation and benefits.
