Overview
Build and maintain the internal application framework that lets teams ship internal tools quickly, and build custom business tooling on top of it for cross-org efforts such as roadmapping, headcount management, and business reporting.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain a framework that makes it fast to create and deploy internal applications and services, with defaults for authentication, hosting, CI/CD, logging, observability, and alerting
- Provide templates, documentation, and examples so teams can ship their own tools without starting from scratch
- Set the standards for how internal apps are built, secured, and run, and make the standard path the easiest one
- Leverage existing systems and sources of truth to build cross-connects where they don't exist
- Work across teams and organizations to understand where tools, processes, or systems are falling short, and turn those gaps into proposals that platform leads can prioritize
- Scope and deliver apps and tooling to address identified gaps
- Ship early versions quickly, learn from how people use them, and improve them over time
- Own the tools you build through rollout, adoption, and ongoing support
- Evaluate whether a need is best met by building, buying, or integrating an existing product, and recommend one with the tradeoffs
- Connect tools to the systems the company already uses, such as identity, data sources, and Slack, so they work together
- Help shape the architecture of internal systems, so they stay consistent and maintainable as the company grows
- Build operational basics into the framework, so every internal app gets incident management, SLO, and alerting defaults automatically
- Use AI tooling to speed up delivery and to automate workflows where it adds value
What you'll need
- 6+ years of software engineering, including building and shipping internal tools or full-stack web applications
- Strong full-stack skills: a backend language such as Go, Python, or TypeScript, and a modern frontend framework
- Experience designing reusable frameworks, templates, or platforms that other engineers build on
- Experience deploying to the cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) with containers and CI/CD, and working knowledge of Kubernetes
- Sound judgment on build, buy, and integrate decisions, and experience integrating third-party SaaS products and APIs
- Experience working directly with non-engineering stakeholders to turn a need into a working tool
- Experience with AI-assisted development or LLM-powered automation
- Clear written communication and comfort working asynchronously on a remote team
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Nice to have
- Cross-functional experience in program management
- Experience with internal tool or developer portal platforms
- Web design experience
- Familiarity with observability and incident tooling (incident.io, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar)
- Experience at a developer tooling or SaaS company at scale, and familiarity with compliance and security standards
