Senior Specialist, Development Mathematician

Overview

Senior Specialist, Development Mathematician for the Calculations & Trending product, developing robust, scalable and scientifically accurate platforms focused on complex biological and pharmaceutical assay calculations (e.g. 4PL, Logit-log, ELISA). Based in Hyderabad.

What you'll do

• Select appropriate statistical modelling and data transformation techniques
• Understand and document calculations algorithms and processes thoroughly
• Work with business SMEs to understand the calculations and help troubleshoot issues/bugs found
• Write efficient and maintainable code following software engineering practices
• Work with version control systems (GitHub) for deploying and versioning code
• Participate in Agile ceremonies with the team to execute on prioritized projects and features
• Implement automated testing and monitoring techniques to ensure accuracy and reliability of systems
• Support the design and architecture of the supported systems

What you'll need

• MSc in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or Statistics, or related quantitative discipline
• 7+ years in software development
• Must be analytical, detail-oriented and able to balance multiple projects simultaneously
• Deep understanding and experience with statistical modelling, regression analysis and mathematics
• Ability to formulate and optimize algorithms
• Ability to create clear and insightful data visualizations to communicate complex findings
• Ability to collaborate with both technical and business teams
• Passion for good quality code and proven experience designing and implementing scalable systems
• Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills
• Strong programming skills in R (mandatory)
• Experience working with legacy code and building scalable solutions, including calculations pipelines, dataset transformation and statistical modelling algorithms
• Experience with test-driven development and verifying statistical models
• Familiarity with building REST APIs for data and models exposure
• Experience developing and validating algorithms for pharmaceutical and biological assays, such as 4PL and logit-log models
• Experience in a laboratory environment
• Experience within the pharmaceutical industry
• Experience with software validation
• Experience with Agile methodologies
• Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, including services relevant to data processing and storage (e.g. S3, EC2, Lambda functions)
• Experience with SQL databases
• Understanding of data warehousing/lake concepts
